OWEN SOUND, ON – The Attack fought hard but fell to the Guelph Storm at the Bayshore in a home-and-home series. The Attack saw goals from Cole Zurawski, Max Delisle, Jake Crawford, and Pierce Mbuyi. While the Storms’s Ryan Roobroeck, Noah Jenken, Carter Stevens, Jaako Wycisk, Adrien Bartovic, Tyler Hopkins, Illia Shybinskyi, and Vladimir Dravecky found the back of the net.
The first period saw two uninterrupted goals from Roobroeck and Jenken giving the Storm the early lead in the first ten minutes. The Attack’s Zurawski notched his first of the season cutting the Storm lead in half on the power play. However, Stevens capitalized on the final minute of play making it 3-1 in favour of the visiting team.
The second frame saw a flurry of goals from both teams, with a total of ten being scored in less than twenty minutes of play. The Attack acted first with three uninterrupted goals, just 13 second apart Crawford and Delisle found the back of the net while shorthanded to tie it up. The Attack’s captain, Pierce Mbuyi, followed his teammates up with a power play goal to give Owen Sound their first lead of the night.
The Storm’s Wycisk and Bartovic scored twice in under five minutes to make it Guelph’s game, 13 seconds after that Delisle grabbed his second of the night to tie it up once again. Unfortunately, the Attack failed to regain their lead when Roobroeck, Hopkins, Shybinskyi, and Dravecky all scored to control the final 8 minutes of play in the second.
The Attack’s third period began with a goaltending change with Maksim Corovic taking the spot between the pipes for the last twenty minutes of play. The Storm’s Dravecky spun one past Corovic to tally his second of the game and make it 10-5 for Guelph.
Attack goaltenders made a total of 36 saves on 46 shots while the Storm goaltender, Ben Hrebik, made 29 saves on the 34 shots.
