Bears Head Into Eye of the Storm
The Attack will go into Guelph tonight coming off a huge win against the Rangers on Wednesday. This will be the first game in Guelph since the Storm acquired Kerby Rychel and Nick Ebert in a trade from the Windsor Spitfires that saw Windsor accumulate eight draft picks and Brody Milne from the deal. The team has been playing well as of late, only dropping 1 game in regulation over their past 10. The Storm have also been strong in their last 10, accumulating a record of 5-2-2-1.
With the win on Wednesday, Owen Sound started what will be 5 consecutive divisional games. If they come up big over this stretch, they could surpass Saginaw and Windsor, who only sit 1 point ahead of them in the conference standings. They could also make up ground on Guelph and London, who sit 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Owen Sound has played Guelph once earlier this season, which was a hard fought game at the Sleeman Centre. Jack Flinn got the start for the Attack, making 37 saves, while Justin Nichols also made 37 saves en route to the win. The game was a hard fought battle, showed by the total of 92 penalty minutes that were given out.
Jaden Lindo will be looking to continue his recent success on Friday, as he is coming off of his first two goal game of the season against the Rangers. The second year winger is only 1 goal away from doubling his previous total, and is close to matching his record for points. Also playing strong for the Attack recently is Daniel Milne. With his assist against the Rangers, he has 5 points in his last 3 games.
December 06-13: Owen Sound @ Guelph
Guelph has been a dominant force in the west all season. They currently sit 3rd in the conference, with a total of 20 wins so far. They are led by a strong group of forwards who have been effective every night, showed by their ability to score. Guelph is ranked 1st in the league in goals for this season, totalling 144 in 28 games played. 9 of their players currently hold a point per game average or higher this season.
The Storm have also recently made a huge deal, further bolstering their line-up. The team acquired former Spitfires’ Kerby Rychel and Nick Ebert in exchange for Brody Milne and nine draft pick. The trade was one of the largest in the club’s history.
Guelph will look to continue its strong play with the new additions as they try to catch Erie for the division lead. They will look to their scoring power and special teams for this success. Both the Storm’s penalty kill and power play sit in the top 5 within the OHL.
Look Out For: Kerby Rychel will be looking to impress his new team with a strong performance against the Attack on Friday. The first round pick of Columbus has performed well against Owen Sound with the Spitfires this season, tallying 5 points in 3 games.
