Attack “Cook” Whalers
Coming off 7-3 loss that saw them give up five goals in the first period, the Attack would be looking to start the game with a better effort on Friday night and they did just that.
Despite giving up the first goal of the game to overage Carter Sandlak, the Bears roared back in a big way. Holden Cook opened the scoring for the Attack, redirecting a Kurtis Gabriel feed past Alex Nedeljkovic. Cook would respond soon after with his second goal of the night, again off a Gabriel feed. Tyler MacArthur and Kyle Hope each drew the other assists on the Cook markers. The Attack would not be done there as Cameron Brace would add his 2nd in as many games to give the Attack a 3-1 lead heading into the intermission.
The Attack would keep their foot on the gas pedal to start the second period. While shorthanded, Zach Nastasiuk would out muscle and out race the Whalers defender and make a nifty move past Nedeljkovic, giving the Attack a 4-1 lead and chasing the Whalers netminder from the game. Tempers would flare during the second period as Alex Annecchiarico, Kurtis Gabriel and Gilbert Gabor would all receive fighting majors. Zach Lorentz would score the Whalers second goal of the game on the powerplay to bring the Whalers within two.
Cameron Brace would restore the Attack’s three goal lead just two minutes into the third period. For Cameron, that would be his 7th point in five games, four of which were goals.
The Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Kurtis Gabriel (1G,2A,2 fights)
2) Cameron Brace (2G)
1) Holden Cook (2G,1A)
The Attack is back in action at home on Sunday afternoon for Pink in the Rink. Windsor is the opponent and the action begins at 2:00pm. Fans are also reminded there is a Bell Skate with the Team immediately following the game that will go until 4:50pm.
