A Whaling We Will Go
The Owen Sound Attack will travel to Plymouth on Friday night in the hopes of bouncing back from a disappointing 7-3 loss in Windsor at the hands of the Spitfires.
This is the first meeting between Owen Sound and Plymouth since Game 6 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals last spring when the Whalers eliminated the Attack.
It is unknown whether Brandon Hope will get the start of whether Greg Ireland will go with Jack Flinn in goal. Hope was pulled last night after allowing five goals on seventeen shots, however; he could hardly be faulted. Jack Flinn took over for the final two periods, stopping eighteen of twenty shots in relief.
The Attack actually had a much more impressive effort in the final two periods, but the five goal first period by the Spitfires was just too big of a hole to crawl out of.
Brayden Rose will sit out his 5th game of a 10 game suspension.
Friday, October 25th: Attack @ Plymouth
These two teams look drastically different than they did last spring and both are in a rebuild mode. Plymouth’s rebuild took a bit of a hit as 19 year old power forward, Tom Wilson was kept by the Washington Capitals instead of being returned to his Ontario Hockey League team. Defenseman Connor Carrick was also not returned to the Whalers as the Washington Capitals elected to keep him before assigning him to Hershey of the AHL.
Despite being in rebuild mode, Plymouth always seems to ice a competitive team. The Whalers are 6-8, good for a tie for 6th place in the Western Conference, however; they are only one point behind the Attack coming into action tonight.
Look Out For: Ryan Hartman is a first round NHL Pick and a thorn in the side of many teams. The gritty forward leads the Whalers in scoring with 13 points in 13 games and has taken on the lead offensive role for the Whalers.
