The Owen Sound Attack look to continue their strong play to start the season as they prepare for three games in three days. The Attack will kick off their weekend on the road in Kitchener, before returning home for final two games of the weekend against Brantford on Saturday night and Kingston on Sunday.
It may be early in the season, but Friday night is already a critical Western Conference game as the Rangers sit in third place in the conference one point ahead of the Attack. The Bears will look to replicate their success from two weeks ago when the two teams met for the first time, also in Kitchener. The Attack came away with a 5-2 victory that night. The Rangers offence is led by the trio of Adrian Misaljevic, Carson Rehkopf and Hunter Brzustewicz who all appear in the OHL’s top-5 in either goals, assists or points. The Rangers head into Friday night winners of their last two games, 8-0 over Barrie and 11-2 over Windsor. The Attack will look to their balance scoring Attack and solid goaltending to counter the high scoring of late Rangers.
The Attack will return home to take on the Brantford Bulldogs (formerly Hamilton), on Saturday night. The Bulldogs head into the weekend with a 1-4-1-0 record, but don’t let this fool you, the Bulldogs will battle hard and should not be taken lightly. The Attack hope to continue to stifle the Bulldogs offence that is led by Nick Lardis and Florian Xhekaj, who each have 4 points on the season.
Sunday, will mark the first time that Jackson Stewart and Cal Uens have played their former teams since the trade last January between the Attack and the Frontenacs. Both teams will be in the final game of three games in three days and looking to finish the weekend strong. The Frontenacs head into the weekend in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 3-5-0-0, with their three wins coming over Oshawa, Ottawa and Windsor. The Attack will need to be careful of Ethan Miedema, Linus Hemstrom and Christopher Thibodeau what have paced the Frontenacs offence so far this season.
The Attack will continue to look to its balanced offence that is currently paced by Deni Goure, Ethan Burroughs, Sam Sedley, Cedrick Guindon, Colby Barlow and Servác Petrovsky.
Sunday is the first Investment Planning Counsel Sunday of the season and will include a free small popcorn to the first 200 kids to enter the game, a chance for kids to a win a VIP meet and greet with their favourite player through a draw box on the concourse, team autographed jersey giveaway and a skate with the team following the game. Anyone wishing to skate is reminded that anyone under the age of 18 must be wearing a CSA approved helmet and skates are required for all to enter the ice surface. Once cleared by the hockey operations staff, the benches will be made available for those who do not have skates to get autographs from the players.
