Attack Finish 2023-2024 Season in 5-1 Game Loss
It was an emotional final game for the Attack as they faced the Saginaw Spirit in their Round 1 fourth game of playoffs. The Attack would push strong but would struggle to find a wining score as they would loss 5-1. Bringing the Attack’s single goal would be Servac Petrovsky making his first 2023-2024 Playoffs goal. In net for the Attack was Carter George making 39 saves of 44 shots on net.
The Spirit would make good time earning them their first goal early in the first period. Continuing to battle it out on the ice, the Attack would rally together in the bears’ territory passing the puck up to the blue line, finding Petrovsky. Petrovsky, in a break away play would fire straight into the back of Saginaw’s net in a short-handed goal. For the remaining time in the first period, the Attack would play a hard defence but would fall short in the final few minutes as the Spirit would secure a second goal.
Getting a second shot in redemption the Attack would find themselves in a power play early in the second. They would find no further budge in play as the Spirit would continue to apply heavy pressure in the Attack territory. George would hold fast for the Attack until halfway through the period where the Spirit would find a opening to the bears’ net. Playing off their third goal of the game, Saginaw would fire another goal into the net of the Attack ending the second period with a 4-1 score in favour of Saginaw.
The third period would be a force of its’ own for the Attack, as the Spirits would use this time to solidify their win with a fifth goal.
As the final buzzer sounds and the echoes of cheers fade, the 2023-2024 hockey season for the Owen Sound Attack draws to a close. The team leaves behind a season marked by unforgettable moments, fierce battles, and unwavering camaraderie. Though the journey may have concluded sooner than hoped for players and fans alike, we will come back stronger and better than ever in the months to come.
