Oil Kings Fall on Road to Hitmen
Edmonton, Alta. – The Edmonton Oil Kings…
A high paced first period saw the Oil Kings outshoot the Hitmen 12-6, but Calgary led the scoreboard 1-0 off of an Andrei Molgachev goal just over six minutes into the game.
Calgary added two powerplay goals in the second period to make it 3-0 as Julien Maze got one and Molgachev added the other. Edmonton did have opportunities in the second as well, including a number of chances on a late powerplay, but were unable top break through.
The Oil Kings created a bit of momentum in the third with a five minute powerplay, scoring once off the stick of Miroslav Holinka. However, even while outshooting the Hitmen 11-6 in the third, they were unable to get one more to go.
Edmonton was 1-for-6 on the powerplay and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill. Parker Snell made 27 of 30 in the game.
The Oil Kings host Calgary on Wednesday.
