Maleek McGowan Representing Team Jamaica at the 2024 Challenger Series
Kingston Frontenacs defenseman Maleek McGowan is currently showcasing his skills with Team Jamaica in the 2024 Challenger Series. This exciting competition pits teams from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Lebanon against each other in a series of matchups set across three locations throughout the summer.
The inaugural leg of the 2024 Challenger Series is in full swing in Chicago, Illinois, taking place from April 18th to the 21st at the Chicago Blackhawks practice facility. Following this, the action moves to the Clark Gillies Arena in Dix Hills, New York, scheduled from June 6th to the 9th. The climax of the series unfolds during the playoffs at the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, for the Challenger Series Heritage Cup, set for July 11th through 13th.
Maleek just completed his second season with the Kingston Frontenacs, bringing his talents to the international stage. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Maleek was initially drafted in the 10th round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. Since then, he’s showcased his prowess in 90 games for the Black and Gold, tallying 3 goals and contributing 17 assists for a total of 20 points. Renowned for his imposing presence on the ice, Maleek has garnered acclaim as one of the top players in the Ontario Hocket League as the “Best Body Checker.”
