Rangers Down Attack in SO
After an impressive 6-1 win in Peterborough on Thursday, the Attack would make their first trip to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Friday.
Jack Flinn would get the start in goal for the Bears while Jordan DeKort would get the nod for the Rangers. As mentioned, the Attack were coming off a 6-1 win while Kitchener was coming off a 5-0 loss to the hands of the Sarnia Sting, but unlike Thursday night, this game would be very close for both teams.
Brett Hargrave picked up his first point as a member of the Attack on Thursday and Friday he would get his first goal in an Owen Sound uniform when he tallied on the powerplay from Kurtis Gabriel and Brayden Rose. The Rangers would draw even at 1-1 on a Matia Marcantuoni goal with just over three minutes remaining in the opening frame.
That would be it for scoring for regulation and this game would head to overtime. Overtime would again solve nothing and the Attack would head to a shootout for the 2nd time in three games. Unfortunately for the Attack , they couldn’t find the back of the net and the Rangers would score twice to get the 2-1 win.
Jack Flinn stopped 26 of 27 shots in the loss while DeKort stopped 20 of 21.
The three stars were:
3) Kurtis Gabriel 1A
2) Evan McEneny 1A
1) Matia Marcantuoni 1G
The Attack is back in action at home on Saturday when they host the Oshawa Generals. Tickets are available at the Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com or by calling (519) 371-7452. Game time is 7:30pm.
