Players Look for Name in Record Book
Several members of the Owen Sound Attack could reach career milestones in the upcoming 2012/2013 season, with the possibility of a few franchise records being broken along the way.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington will undoubtedly carry a heavy load in goal for the Attack next season after the graduation of overage goaltender and long time fan favourite, Scott Stajcer. The St. Louis Blues prospect will enter the season with 54 career wins, three back of former partner Stajcer and 11 back of Owen Sound native and NHL goaltender, Curtis Sanford for the franchise lead. Binnington is also 43 games played away from making 150 regular season appearances.
Binnington started off the 2011/2012 season rather slow by his standards, however; the Richmond Hill native heated up in the final two months of the regular season posting an 8-4 record to go along with a 2.07GAA and save percentage of .940.
The other player looking to re-write the record book is Keevin Cutting. To date, Cutting has suited up in 259 regular season games for the Attack, 53 shy of Marcus Carroll’s franchise record of 312. The sturdy rearguard has turned into a pillar on the Attack’s defence core the past two seasons, posting 9 goals, 32 assists and an impressive +43 rating while playing in all 136 regular season games.
Several other players will also reach personal milestones in games played. Daniel Catenacci (199), Daniel Zweep (164), Cameron Brace (144) and Gemel Smith (134) all have an opportunity to crack the 200 games played mark while Brendan Childerley (215) has the ability to reach the exclusive 250 games played club.
