Why do You Love Owen Sound?
City officials want to know what people love about Owen Sound.
Owen Sound Tourism has launched a contest, I Love Owen Sound, with numerous prizes up for grabs, including a GoPro digital camcorder.
Paulette Peirol, tourism marketing co-ordinator, says it is a new contest.
“We are hoping to get really great community involvement and unique perspectives on why people love Owen Sound,” she said during an interview.
The tourism department wants fresh ideas that can be used to help promote the city to new families moving here, said Peirol.
There are three categories:
* Best drawing and story submission, for ages five to 12. Prizes include a gift certificate to The Rocking Horse, family swims at the YMCA, season’s pass for two to Story Book Park or an Owen Sound Attack prize package.
* Best photo and video submission for ages 13-18. Prizes include a Contour digital camcorder and photo book or a GoPro digital camcorder.
* Best photo, video or written submission, for ages 18 and up. Prizes to win include a Contour digital camcorder and photo book, GoPro digital camcorder or an Owen Sound experience package.
The contest winners will be announced in October, said Shelley Jackson, graphic design and social media specialist with Owen Sound Tourism.
Submissions must include the phrase “I Love Owen Sound”. Entries can be submitted at www.owensoundtourism.ca.They are due by Oct. 1
