Nick Suzuki selected 13th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017 NHL Entry Draft
Owen Sound Attack forward Nick Suzuki became the 1st member of the Attack/Platers franchise to be chosen in the 1st round of the NHL Entry Draft since Joey Hishon when the London, Ont. native was picked 13th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, June 23.
Suzuki was selected by the Golden Knights after the 5’11, 183 lbs forward piled up 45 goals and 51 assists in 65 games of action for the Attack in the 2016-17 Ontario Hockey League season.
Named the Most Sportsmanlike Player in both the OHL and Canadian Hockey League this past season, Suzuki was picked 14th overall by the Attack in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection and has compiled 65 goals and 69 assists in 128 games for the Attack over the past two years, while recording just 14 minutes in penalties.
In the playoffs, including this season’s run to the Western Conference Final, Suzuki has appeared in 23 games, scoring 10 times and pitching in with 14 assists for a total of 24 points.
One of eight Attack skaters ranked by the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau ahead of this year’s Draft, Suzuki will now look to be joined as property of an NHL team by a number of his teammates from the past two season.
