Attack Shut out Colts
The Barrie Colts rode into town on a snowy Owen Sound night to take on the Attack. The Attack were coming off a 3-2 win in Ottawa on Sunday, their 4th win in a row and they were looking to make it five on Wednesday night.
Last time the Barrie Colts visited the Attack, they left town without a goal, dropping a 1-0 decision.
The first shift of the game would set the tone as the Attack forwards pursued the puck relentlessly in the offensive zone. The pursuit would reward the Attack when Gemel Smith notched his 19th of the season from Steven Janes and Cameron Brace.
The Attack would enter the second period with a 1-0 lead and find themselves on the powerplay. Just 6:49 in, Steven Janes would hammer home his first as a member of the Attack, from Chris Bigras and Cody Ceci.
Once again, the Attack would score the lone goal of the period and enter the third period with a 2-0 lead.
Barrie would pressure the Attack every so often, but the Attack defenders thwarted the Colts attempts and when called upon, Jordan Binnington made several spectacular saves.
Jordan Binnington would gather his OHL leading 6th Shutout of the season and now sits first amongst OHL goalies in GAA (2.12), Save Percentage (.934) and Shutouts (8).
The Centennial Windows Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Mathias Niederberger 25 SV
2) Steven Janes 1G,1A
1) Jordan Binnington 25SV SO
The Attack is back in action at home on Saturday when Pizza Pizza presents the Attack vs. the Guelph Storm.
Game time is 7:30pm.
