Attack Set for Return to the Bayshore After Long Road Trip
The Owen Sound Attack are set to ring in the new year with their first game at the Bears Den this Saturday night, but not before completing a five game road trip with mid-week travel down to Niagara and Erie.
After testing their metal against three of the Eastern Conferences top teams in their last four games, the Attack will round out a five straight cross-conference meetings Wednesday night when they travel down to St. Cathreines for the first meeting of the season with the Niagara Ice Dogs. The last meeting between the teams back in February of 2020, was a goal fest for Owen Sound as they notched 11 goals, with 14 players registering at least a point. From that game only Nolan Seed, Deni Goure, Sam Sedley Kaleb Lawrence, Ethan Burroughs and Nick Chenard remain on the Attack roster, while the Ice Dogs have just two players still on their roster from that meeting. Owen Sound will be hoping for a similar game as that previous meeting as they look to gather momentum and keep pace in a very competitive Western Conference.
Owen Sound will then wrap their road trip Thursday night, with a return to Western Conference play with their last visit to the Erie Insurance Arena for a battle against the Otters. The Attack are 3-1 to this point against the Otters this season, but the teams split the early season two-game weekend in Erie, back in October. The Otters lineup has been altered slightly since the last meeting between the team’s, as Otters star defensemen Christian Kyrou was shipped to Sarnia, in return for ’05 d-man Alexis Daviault. Though in the basement of the Western Conference the Otters still present a challenge, as they continue to be a young feisty team that never gives up.
Owen Sound returns home Saturday night when they welcome division rival Guelph Storm to the Bayshore. After claiming the first meeting of the season the Attack have had their struggles with the Storm as they have gone 0-1-2-1 in the four meeting since. Though having an up and down season, the Storm still boast a strong lineup, and have added a few piece over the trade deadline period, as they look to push over the basement hump and take control of a playoff spot. Saturday night’s game will mark the first for the Attack at the Bayshore since the calendar flipped to 2023.
Fans can track the Attack’s road progress by tuning into Rogers TV Grey County or CHL TV, or can listen to the live local broadcast of on 560 CFOS Bears Radio.
