Attack in Hanover Sunday
HANOVER – The time for practicing is over.
The Owen Sound Attack return to Hanover for the third straight season to take to the ice at the P&H Centre. However, unlike the past two years, the Attack will be in action, hosting an exhibition game against the Erie Otters.
The puck drops at 2 p.m. Sunday, the main event of what promises to be a day fans won’t soon forget.
Doors at the P&H Centre open at 12:30 p.m., as the festivities begin – and there is a lot happening in the hour-and-a-half before the players hit the ice.
Upstairs in the rink, just outside the Lions Den, a silent auction will be taking place, to benefit Hanover Minor Hockey. Bid before the game and during intermissions on some fantastic items, including among other things a Wayne Gretzky autographed and framed photo and an autographed Joffrey Lupul Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. View the items in advance by visiting www.lastingmemorieslockerroom.com.
At 1 p.m., the two time winner of the Canadian Tire NASCAR series, Scott Steckly, will be in the lobby of the P&H Centre. Steckly will be in Hanover with his race car for photo opportunities. He will also be happy to sign autographs and talk racing with all fans in attendance. He’ll be at the game until the end of the second intermission.
There’ll be lots of food for when you get hungry during the action, as Frankie’s will be selling its Matteo’s Pizza upstairs, outside the Lions Den. Hanover Minor Hockey will have popcorn for sale upstairs as well. The downstairs concession stand will also be open.
If you can’t head to a hockey game without having an adult beverage, have no fear. The Lions Den will be open and licensed, run by the Hanover Barons. The bar will remain open after the game.
Advance tickets for the game are moving fast. A $15 general admission ticket gets you into the rink and can be purchased in advance at Hanover Canadian Tire, Johnny K Sports, Lasting Memories Locker Room, the Owen Sound Attack box office and from any member of the Hanover Minor Hockey board.
If you can’t make the game, but still want to listen to the action, Hanover Minor Hockey president Steve Fitzsimmons, who doubles as the voice of the Guelph Storm on Rogers Cable television, will be calling the play-by-play for the game on Bluewater Radio.
