Attack Earn Split with Otters
The Owen Sound Attack bounced back after a disappointing loss on Friday night to earn a split with the Erie Otters on Saturday evening .
The boys from Owen Sound had no trouble scoring on Friday night as they found the back of the net five times and wasted little time getting back into the rhythm on Saturday night via Brendan Childerley’s 3rd goal of the season only 1:28 into the opening frame.
The Otters would bite back though with goals by Luke Cairns and Connor Brown, giving the Otters a 2-1 lead heading into the dressing room after one period of play.
Whatever was said in the dressing room during the first intermission must have worked as the Attack came out for the 2nd period and poured 28 shots at Otters goalie Tyson Teichmann. Of those 28 shots, two were converted for goals by Joseph Blandisi (3rd) and Daniel Catenacci (4th). Despite outshooting the Otters 28-7 in the second, the Attack still held only a one goal lead.
The third period of play was still all Owen Sound. Goals by Cameron Brace and Brett Appio gave the Attack a three goal lead before Erie was able to pull within one, but Captain Michael Halmo iced the game at the 19:00 mark with an Empty Net Goal.
Jordan Binnington stopped 20 shots in goal for the win while Tyson Teichmann turned aside 55 Attack shots in a losing effort.
