Attack Disarm Troops
After a tough loss at home on Wednesday evening, the Owen Sound Attack took to the ice in Brampton on Friday evening in search of snapping their mini two game losing skid. Friday’s game was the first in Brampton since the team announced they would be relocating to North Bay for the 2013/2014 season.
Brandon Hope got the call in goal tonight after guiding the Attack to victory last weekend in Erie. Brampton would get on the board first as Brendan Childerley potted home a rebound for his 2nd of the season and first against his former team. The Attack would reply shortly after when Kurtis Gabriel re-directed a bounce off the back boards through the legs of Matej Machovsky.
Once again Brampton would take the lead off a goal mouth scramble when Matt MacLeod slid the puck past the outstretched leg of Hope. As was the theme of the night, the Attack responded in true fashion when Gemel Smith displayed some trickery in the goal crease and feathered the puck past the Brampton netminder.
The second period would provide back and forth action, but no goals for either team.
The line of Smith, Catenacci and Brace were buzzing all night and they were once again rewarded when Catenacci redirected home a point shot to give the Attack a 3-2 lead. A late penalty to Daniel Zweep put the Attack shorthanded and Brampton would make them pay when Zach Bell’s seeing eye point shot when post to post and in to knot the game at three.
In true Attack fashion, they never quit, relentlessly trying to take the one goal lead and fortune would smile down on them as Daniel Catenacci took a Gemel Smith feed and hammered it past Machovsky for the 4-3 lead.
Zach Nastasiuk would add an empty netter from goaltender Brandon Hope and the Attack would skate away with a 5-3 victory and regain a three point cushion atop the MidWest Division standings.
The Attack is back at home on Saturday evening when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Bayshore. Tickets are available at the Attack Box Office, online by clicking here or by calling 519 371-7452.
Game time is 7:30pm.
