We Three Kings Look for Holy Grail
Three former members of the Owen Sound Attack realized their boyhood dreams and won the ultimate prize in hockey, the Stanley Cup
Mike Futa, Brad Richardson and Trevor Lewis’ LA Kings squad defeated the New Jersey Devils last night to secure their first ever Stanley Cup and the first Stanley Cup for the city of Los Angeles.
LA finished in 8th place in the Western Conference, but rolled through President’s Cup Trophy winners Vancouver, 2nd seed St. Louis and finally finished off the 3rd seeded Phoenix Coyotes en route to the finals where they defeated the Eastern Conference Champion New Jersey Devils.
Richardson and Lewis both donned the Attack sweater, but both had very different, yet very successful OHL careers.
Richardson was a 1st Round Pick of the Attack in 2001 and spent his entire career in the Scenic City, tallying 213 points in 208 games including 12 more points in 12 playoff games and was a 5th Round Selection of the Colorado Avalanche. The Belleville native was dealt to the Kings prior to the 2009 season.
Lewis joined the Attack in 06-07 after being a 1st Round Selection of the LA Kings and paid immediate dividends. The Salt Lake City native notched 29 goals and 73 points in his one and only Ontario Hockey League Campaign.
Kings Co-Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Futa spent five successful seasons as General Manager of the Owen Sound Attack where he was named OHL Executive of the Year in 2005.
The Attack wish to congratulate Mike, Brad and Trevor on their incredible accomplishment.
