McMaster Commits to Acadia University
The Acadia University Axemen men’s hockey program announced the commitment of 2020-21 Owen Sound Attack overage forward Adam McMaster beginning in September 2021. McMaster becomes the 56th Attack player to head east to compete in U Sports Atlantic University Sport conference and lucky number seventh to attend Acadia University.
“Through talking with Coach Burns for the past 7 or 8 months I could tell Acadia is a place that I could further my education and also my playing career,” said McMaster. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about Acadia and the AUS conference. I am excited to get to Acadia and play in front of the Axemen fans!”
The native of Beamsville, Ontario was acquired by the Attack from the North Bay Battalion on December 28, 2018 in a trade for Mitchell Russell. McMaster had a breakout year in 2019-20 scoring 19 goals and adding 23 assists in 62 games. He finished his Ontario Hockey League career with 50 goals, 95 assists in 254 career games.
“I think Acadia is very lucky to be having a player like Adam McMaster coming in. He’s highly skilled and one of the top skaters in the OHL” said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “He will have no trouble providing offence while being accountable defensively. We wish him all the best moving forward and thank him for everything he did while in Owen Sound.”
McMaster will see some familiar faces on the east coast, playing in a division with Matthew Philip, Barret Kirwin and fellow Attack Alum Santino Centorame. Starting in September, Adam will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Community Development program.
