Attack set for Eastern Ontario Road Trip
It’s a return to tradition, as the Owen Sound Attack once again get set for their Eastern Ontario road trip, where they will visit Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa.
It all begins Thursday night when the Bears tangle against the Petes at the Peterborough Memorial Centre for the teams first meeting since late in the 2019-20 season. The Petes have made moves to indicate a potential championship run, but have struggled to gain traction, as they sit middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. Veteran’s Tucker Robertson and Connor Lockhart lead the Petes offensively, with both having registered over 40 points on the season. In net Michael Simpson has been one of the top goalies in the OHL this season, and will pose a great challenge for Owen Sound’s top offensive players to produce against.
A short travel across the 401 has the Attack battling the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night. This is the second game of the season between the teams, with Owen Sound claiming a 4-1 win at the Bayshore back on October 30th. Since the last meeting, Kingston has turned focus more to the future as they have traded away leading goal scorer Francesco Arcuri, and have a lineup full of 2004, 05 and 06 born players. Though having a younger lineup the Fronts still have remained competitive in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting fifth in the standings. Julian Fantino and Cedrick Guindon led the Attack back in October, each recording three point games. Guindon has since continued his offensive burst, as he sits second on Owen Sound in scoring behind only captain Colby Barlow, with both players looking to continue their strong seasons.
The four day road trip comes to an end Sunday afternoon when the Attack stop in Ottawa for the first season meeting against the 67’s. Ottawa has been a force this season, claiming the top seed in the league early in the season and haven’t relinquished it. The game also marks the first meeting of top 2023 NHL Draft prospects with the Attack’s Barlow and Ottawa’s Luca Pinelli. Both players lead their team in scoring, as Barlow continues his push to show he is worth a top 10 pick in the draft, while Pinelli tries to prove that he is a legit 1st round selection.
