Attack Launch New Program ‘Konnor’s Cubs” for Local Charity Groups
The Owen Sound Attack are excited to begin a new program spearheaded by Attack defenseman Konnor Smith. Konnor’s Cubs will welcome youth from local Big Brothers Big Sisters, Keystone Family and Child Services, and Bruce Grey Child and Family Services to the remaining Attack regular season games starting next Wednesday February 7th. This program aimed to allow more kids to attend Attack games and support our local community charity groups that work with at risk and underprivileged youth.
“I am very excited to announce the start of my Konnor’s Cubs program here in Owen Sound.” Said Attack Defenseman Konnor Smith, “I had a similar program called Konnor’s Kids in Peterborough. Giving back to the community and helping people is something that means a lot to me. When I was younger my trainer Mehari Hagos ran an at-risk youth program on top of being a personal trainer, which I helped out with in some of my free time. Once I moved away from home for hockey, that was the one thing I truly missed, giving back to the community. That is what started my initiative to start up my program and start giving back to the community. I am very happy to announce the start of this program here in Owen Sound.”
Each game 4 tickets will be provided to one of these three local charities to allow them to offer the families and youth they support a chance to see an Attack game and to meet Konnor postgame.
The Attack are excited to offer more opportunities for kids to attend our games, and for Konnor to lead this initiative connecting with local Owen Sound and Grey Bruce youth.
“Konnor has already shown his strong character in his short time in Owen Sound”, said Evan Longland Coordinator of Community Relations with the Attack, “We are proud to have a great group of players that use their platform to help others and recognize the position they have to make a difference. We look forward to hosting Konnor’s Cubs on all of our upcoming game nights going forward.”
