Attack at the Draft: 2022 NHL Draft Preview
The 2022 National Hockey League draft is just around the corner, with Round 1 set to go Thursday, July 7 and Rounds 2-7 happening Friday, July 8. This marks the first in-person draft for the NHL since 2019, with the previous two drafts held virtually. Held in Montreal, it is the Canadians set to get Round 1 underway Thursday night, with their first overall selection coming shortly after 7 p.m. EST. Teams will then fly through Rounds 2-7 on the Friday, with the opening pick coming shortly after 11 a.m. EST. The Attack have 14 players eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft with Servac Petrovsky, Cedrick Guindon and Gavin Bryant leading the way.
Petrovsky, Guindon, and Bryant all found themselves on the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings for North American Skaters, Petrovsky leads the group ranked 58th, with Guindon right behind him at 59. Bryant heads into the draft ranked 179th among the North American skaters. All three players had stellar rookie seasons with the Attack, with Guindon leading the way scoring 30 goals and finishing with 59 points while appearing in all 68 games for Owen Sound. Petrovsky was right behind Guindon, as the Slovak netted 28 goals and 54 points in just 65 games played, while Bryant had a solid 9 goals and 38 points in a checking role for much of his 63 games played.
Attack prospect Issac Howard is also highly touted heading into this years draft, as he comes in ranked 9th among North American Skaters. A great article highlighting Howard and what drives him heading into the draft can be found here.
