Hish-IN!

Former Attack Star Joey Hishon will get his first taste of NHL life as he, along with six others have been called up to the Colorado Avalanche from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. In his first full season back after suffering a concussion and neck injury, the Stratford native scored 10 times and added 14 helpers in 50 games. Congratulations to Joey and his family!

 

 

Damir in the Clear

After cracking the Russian under-18 team last week, Damir Sharipzyanov and his Russian teammates will take their 1-1-1 (1 Reg win, 1 OT win and 1 loss) into this afternoons game against Canada, who is sitting at 3-0. Russia currently sits 2^nd in their Group, 1 point ahead of Sweden and 3 points behind Canada for top spot. Damir has not registered a point yet, however; sits tied for first on the Russian squad with a +2 rating.

 

Simmer Down

Wayne Simmonds and the Philadelphia Flyers tied their series against the New York Rangers at one on Sunday afternoon.  The former Attack star had a goal in Philadelphia’s win on Sunday and was a standout and with his work ethic and physical play.

 

Sledgehammer Goes “Wild”

Kurtis Gabriel seems to be finding his feet in the pro ranks. After a getting his feet wet, the Sledgehammer has potted 2 goals, 2 assists and 15 penalty minutes in 8 games for the Iowa Wild.

 

Mr. Christie

Former Plater Ryan Christie captured the Allan Cup as a member of the Dundas Real McCoys. This was Christie’s 4^th season with the Real McCoy’s after spending time in the NHL and other Minor Pro league’s during his professional career.
