Harry Lumley Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year: Deni Goure
Owen Sound Attack forward Deni Goure is the 2019/20 recipient of the Harry Lumley Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year.
The 10th overall pick in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Goure stepped into the lineup from day one after impressing at camp. The Grande Pointe, ON native played in all 62 games this season, scoring 11 times and adding 14 assists for the club. Throughout the year, Goure consistently worked his way up the lineup, ending the season with minutes played on the top line.
Attack Assistant Coach Joey Hishon was impressed with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones alum: “Deni is an incredible hockey player, with an extremely smart mind for the game. The only thing more impressive than his play on the ice was his attitude off of it. He battled through adversity without a single complaint all year, and that’s extremely satisfying to see as a coach.” Hishon adds: “He’s mature beyond his years and he’s got a very bright future in Owen Sound and beyond.”
Last year’s recipient of the Harry Lumley Memorial Award was defenseman Nolan Seed, with Goaltender Mack Guzda earning the honours in 2017-18.
