66 for Binnington in 4-0 Win
The Kitchener Rangers made their first visit of the season to Owen Sound on Saturday night for an important matchup in the always tight MidWest Division.
Jordan Binnington would get the nod in net for the Attack while John Gibson would crowd the crease for the Rangers.
MPP Bill Walker was on hand prior to this evenings game to drop the puck in support of McArthur Tire Movember with the Attack while the Society of Energy Professionals handed out their Minor Hockey Player of the Month award to Ryan McNeil-Smith.
If the first period was any indication, we were in store for a dandy. After killing off two consecutive Rangers power plays, the Attack would get one of their own. With traffic in front, a John Gibson rebound would go directly to Gemel Smith who would bury his 13th of the season.
Shots on goal after the first were 16-15 in favour of the Attack.
The intense action would continue in the second period. After killing off a Joseph Blandisi penalty, Daniel Catenacci would bury his 15th of the season from Brace and Blandisi.
With the Attack finding them selves shorthanded once again, Cameron Brace would break down the wing and fire an absolute laser over the catching glove of Gibson to make it 3-0 Attack.
Tempers would flare near the end of the second, the Attack coming out of the scrum a man down to begin the third.
The Attack would keep the pedal to the floor in the third and would be rewarded when Daniel Zweep wristed home his 2nd of the season to make it 4-0.
That would be all the Attack would need as Jordan Binnington would handle it the rest of the way, shutting the Rangers out for his 66th Career win, which moves him past Curtis Sanford for 1st All Time on Owen Sound’s Franchise wins list.
The Attack will be honouring Jordan prior to Wednesday evening’s game against the Barrie Colts with an on ice ceremony. The Attack will also have posters available to the first 750 fans and will be announcing a special ticket promotion for Wednesday evening prior to tomorrow’s game.
