Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is happy to announce the signing of forward Sam Auld to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Auld, 18, is from Vancouver, B.C., and spent the 2025-26 season with the BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs. In 39 games, Auld tallied three goals and six assists for nine points. The 2008-born forward was invited to Portland’s training camp and participated in the 2026 preseason, scoring three goals and one assist in four games.
“Sam came in and impressed us at training camp. He’s a motivated player with big upside,” Winterhawks President and General Manager Mike Johnston said.
The 6-foot-1 product is the son of former NHL netminder Alex Auld. Alex played in 237 games across 10 seasons with the Canucks, Panthers, Coyotes, Bruins, Senators, Stars, Rangers, and Canadiens.
