The Portland Winterhawks understand the importance of giving back to the community and strive to be as active in it as possible. We look for new ways get involved with our community partners and love spending time with fans new and old. We focus on three key pillars for community service and projects, but are always looking for more ways to serve others. Below are our three pillars along with organizations we serve.
- Serving Kids in the Community

- Reading Programs at various elementary schools in the greater Portland/Vancouver area
- Adopting a School in the Beaverton School District for a mentorship program
- Working with the Sunshine Divisions, Portland Winterhawks Booster Club and Fred Meyer for Shop with a Hawk, giving kids an opportunity to purchase toys and clothes for the holiday season
- Empower youth through the Winterhawks Amateur Hockey Association initiatives like the Tom’s Tykes program (see below)

Winterhawks Foundation
The Winterhawks Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 organization partnered with the Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club to promote the growth of ice sports and provide post-secondary scholarships to elite hockey players in Oregon and Southwest Washington. In an effort the reduce the foundation’s operating expenses, the Portland Winterhawks provide web space for online activities. Tom’s Tykes
Tom’s Tykes program allows children the amazing opportunity to try hockey for FREE for the first time. Tom’s Tykes will provide all the hockey gear and equipment so kids can get involved with this amazing sport without all the initial stress. This hockey experience provides 8-and-under kids seven (7), one-hour half-ice sessions, jerseys, gear, and the opportunity to work with Winterhawks players and staff. These sessions include on-ice drills, scrimmages, games, and much more.
Donation Requests
The goal of all Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club and Winterhawks Skating Center charitable activities is to promote active and healthy lifestyles among the youth of Oregon and Southwest Washington. The primary focus of these efforts is to introduce local youth to ice sports and related activities as life-long options for fitness and recreation, but requests that seek to bolster educational achievement, in addition to healthy lifestyles, will also be considered.

Winterhawks Charity Weekend
The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club host their annual Winterhawks Golf Tournament with an added feature of Charity Dinner and Silent Auction to kick off the start of the fall hockey season.
The Winterhawks Charity Weekend will be donating all proceeds to Tom’s Tykes, the Junior Winterhawks, and the Winterhawks Amateur Hockey Association. Not only is this an opportunity to mix and mingle with hockey’s finest, but it’s a chance to raise money and awareness for the hockey community.
