The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the premiere of a new, four-episode docuseries titled Hawkeytown: Portland to the Pros, debuting on NHL Network on May 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Produced by Emmy Award-winning Haven Entertainment, this docuseries follows the 2023-24 Portland Winterhawks Western Conference Championship season.
Each 40-plus-minute episode features exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes video with players, coaches, parents, scouts, NHL executives, Winterhawks alumni, and more, helping tell the story of how players achieve their dream of playing in the NHL. Learn more about the day-to-day life of junior hockey players and those around them supporting them along the way.
Episode Guide:
Episode One – Airs May 9 – In the series premiere, dive into the regular season’s ups and downs. You’ll be introduced to the Winterhawks players and coaches, along with the organization’s rich history with professional hockey. Portland adds a new face to the blueline just in time for the annual Teddy Bear Toss.
Episode Two – Airs May 16 – This episode captures the essence of the challenges faced by young hockey players as they navigate the pressures of being a high-end player with school, life, and growing up away from home, often in a different country. Another high-end player joins the fold at the WHL Trade Deadline. The Winterhawks also begin their postseason run with a series against the Victoria Royals.
Episode Three – Airs May 23 – The final two episodes showcase the dedication of everyone on the Winterhawks roster and their desire to overcome adversity. The Winterhawks face U.S. Division rival Everett Silvertips in the second round before a battle with the number one seed Prince George Cougars, which featured a legendary Game 6 double overtime winner from Josh Davies.
Episode Four – Airs May 30 – The series wraps up with an emotional aftermath of the Winterhawks loss in the WHL Final. This poignant conclusion underscores the resilience and growth of the young athletes and reminds everyone that despite their journey, they are still just kids, facing a hopeful but uncertain future. Key players from earlier episodes are revisited to conclude their individual journeys.
