Winterhawks announce education partnership with Warner Pacific University
The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce a new education partnership with Warner Pacific University for the 2026-27 Academic Year.
At Warner Pacific University (WPU), Winterhawks players will study topics such as Sociology in Sport and English Composition and Research. They will travel to WPU’s campus weekly and take courses alongside other WPU undergraduate students. As part of the benefits of being on campus, they will be able to attend WPU sporting events and take advantage of other on-campus venues, including the university library and cafeteria.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to education, opportunity, and the Portland community,” said Christina Schnyders, Warner Pacific University President. “We are excited to welcome Winterhawks players to Warner Pacific and provide an educational experience that supports their growth both on and off the ice.”
Warner Pacific University becomes an official sponsor of the Portland Winterhawks as part of the partnership agreement and will collaborate on a host of educational opportunities and student achievements. The WPU community will also be encouraged to attend Winterhawks games and support Winterhawks events.
“We are excited to partner with Warner Pacific for next season,” Winterhawks President and General Manager said. “It has always been a priority of ours to provide our athletes with the best educational options available. Warner Pacific allows us to accomplish that goal.”
The Portland Winterhawks place a strong emphasis on developing players both on and off the ice. Having all college-age players attend courses in person on a university campus provides countless additional benefits compared to taking courses online only.
