RECAP: Tabashniuk Blanks Silvertips As Pats Stay Perfect At Home
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats kept their perfect home record intact Tuesday, riding a 34-save shutout from Taylor Tabashniuk to a 3-0 victory over the Everett Silvertips at the Brandt Centre.
Tabashniuk earned his second shutout of the season, both coming in the last six days, while Zach Lansard and Samuel Karsay each recorded a goal and an assist. Ossi Tukio opened the scoring with his second goal in as many games.
The victory improved the Pats to 7-4-0-1 overall and 6-0-0 at home, where they have outscored opponents 32-6 this season.
Everett held a 13-7 edge in shots in the opening period, but Tabashniuk turned aside everything he faced. Tukio put Regina ahead at 9:12, burying a rebound off Karsay’s shot. Matt Paranych picked up the secondary assist, extending his point streak to eight games.
Lansard doubled the lead just 54 seconds into the second period. Cohen Klassen chipped the puck past the blue line along the left boards before finding Lansard in front, where he tucked home a backhander for his sixth goal of the season. The tally extended Lansard’s goal streak to three games.
The Silvertips pressed with another 13 shots in the third, but Tabashniuk held firm before Karsay provided some late insurance. With 3:09 remaining, Mathis Paull found Karsay alone in front, and the forward buried his third of the season to make it 3-0. Karsay now has seven points over his last three games.
Everett outshot Regina 34-19, with Bennett Byers finishing with 16 saves. The Pats went 0-for-1 on the power play and killed both Silvertips opportunities.
