PREVIEW: Pats Return For Home Matchup With Raiders
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats return to the Brandt Centre on Friday night as they welcome the Prince Albert Raiders for the first time on home ice this season. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with Regina looking to build off a strong finish to its Alberta road trip.

The Pats wrapped up their two-game trip with a convincing 7-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday, earning their first road win of the season. Rookie forward Liam Pue led the offensive attack with his first career WHL hat trick, including the game-winning goal, while Samuel Karsay and Tomas Cermak each scored their first WHL goals. Taylor Tabashniuk made 21 saves on 23 shots to earn the victory. Regina went 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Hitmen were held scoreless on two opportunities. The Pats also held a 34-23 advantage in shots, including a 12-4 edge in the second period.
Through five games, Regina sits at 2-2-0-1, having scored 20 goals while allowing 19. The Pats’ power play continues to be one of the team’s strengths early in the season, operating at 33.0 per cent, while the penalty kill is clicking at 81.0 per cent.
Ellis Mieyette leads the Pats offensively with eight points (2G-6A) through five games. Pue was named the WHL Rookie of the Week following his three-goal, four-point weekend and now has seven points (4G-3A) in five games.
The Raiders enter Thursday’s contest at 2-5-0-0 following a 4-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday. Alisher Sarkenov and Owen Corkish provided the offence for Prince Albert, with both goals coming on the power play. Goaltender Michal Orsulak turned aside 30 of 34 shots and was named the game’s third star. Medicine Hat outshot Prince Albert 34-25, including a 17-5 advantage in the second period after the teams played to a 10-10 tie in the opening frame. The Raiders went 2-for-3 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Ben Harvey leads the Raiders offensively after being selected fourth overall by Prince Albert in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. The 17-year-old has recorded nine points (5G-4A) through seven games. Maddix McCagherty has added seven points (1G-6A) in seven contests, while Connor Howe has six points (4G-2A) through the team’s first seven games.
The Pats and Raiders have already met once this season, with Prince Albert taking a 7-4 decision on September 18 in the Raiders’ home opener. Regina will look to even the season series in the first meeting between the two clubs at the Brandt Centre.

The Regina Pats return to action on Saturday, October 10 when they travel to the SaskTel Centre and battle the Saskatoon Blades for the first time this season.
