Oil Kings Visit Tigers Looking for Revenge
Medicine Hat, Alta. – The Edmonton Oil Kings are back in action tonight for the first time in a week as they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Oil Kings are 2-2-1-0 on the season after they defeated the Regina Pats on 5-1 last Friday behind Kayden Stroeder’s second career hat-trick. Edmonton will look to build off of that momentum as they visit their rivals for the first time this season.
The Oil Kings and Tigers met on the second weekend of the season, with Medicine Hat taking a 5-2 decision. Aaron Obobaifo was in on both goals in that game with a goal and an assist. He sits at five points on the season, tied for the team lead.
Meanwhile, Stroeder and Jonas Vanicek are both at five points as well, forming a formidable 17-year-old duo for the Oil Kings.
Edmonton’s powerplay will also be a key in the game, currently sitting at just over 29%, fourth in the WHL. Staying out of the box will also be of importance for Edmonton as they are tied for the fourth-most times shorthanded in the league.
On the Tigers side, they’ve won back-to-back games, most recently a Saturday night win over the Prince Albert Raider by a 4-2 score. They’re now 4-1-0-0 on the season, tied for third in the Eastern Conference.
Puck drop from Medicine Hat is at 7 p.m. tonight.
