Frontenacs seek redemption in Brantford Saturday afternoon
Brantford, ON – It’s the final of a three-in-three for the Frontenacs as they head to the telephone city to take on the Bulldogs for the second time in three weeks.
So far, so good is the way to describe the Frontenacs road trip heading into Brantford. Thursday night, Kingston scored seven times in a win against the Barrie Colts, Friday night, the Frontenacs took care of business in Brampton, beating the Steelheads 4-2.
The defence led the way on offence for the Frontenacs Friday night. André Mondoux and Adam Goljer both had goals in the winning effort. Royden Smith started for Kingston and was excellent, especially down the stretch when a pesky Steelheads team hung around late in the third period.
It’s not a hard sell to fans entering Saturday’s game against Brantford. The Frontenacs and the Bulldogs are the top two scoring teams in the OHL through the first three weeks. Scoring four times on Friday, the Frontenacs now have 41 goals for versus the Bulldogs 40. These two teams met on September 26, and it was all Brantford in a 10-4 Bulldogs win.
Matthew Minchak is projected to get the start for Kingston Saturday afternoon. The Vegas Golden Knights prospect played in Barrie on Thursday and made 30 saves in his second win of the season.
Players to Watch:
Kingston: Landon Wright
It seems obvious to suggest that the Frontenacs team leader in points will be a player to watch on Saturday, but Landon Wright is a threat every time he steps on the ice. With elite speed and a lethal shot, Wright will be an important factor as the Frontenacs try to set the tone early in Brantford
Brantford: Camden McCuaig
The former Kingston Frontenac, Camden McCuaig will be fresh as he re-enters the lineup after serving a five-game suspension. He was excellent when these two teams last met, scoring twice and adding an assist. Watch for McCuaig to be dangerous again Saturday.
