Sterling performance for Palmu
While the medal isn’t the colour he would have hoped for, Petrus Palmu ended the 2015 IIHF U18 Championships on a successful note.
The 17 year old Finnish import was a key part of Team Finland’s silver medal-winning squad at the tournament in Zug, Switzerland.
The tournament wrapped up on Sunday, Apr. 26 and Palmu put up three points by way of one goal and two assists in seven games and while he was held scoreless in the gold medal game, his tenacious play was evident.
A key part of the Owen Sound Attack forecheck this past season, Palmu was the driving force behind Team Finland’s cycle throughout the tournament and he even provided a number of large body checks against the United States.
Despite the strong play of both he and his teammates, Finland was forced to walk away with a silver medal after a 2-1 overtime loss in the tournament’s closing contest.
