Molson Canadian Performers of the Month
Each month of the season, the Owen Sound Attack will be handing out the Molson Canadian Performers of the Month awards. The awards will recognize the team’s top player, top rookie, top defenseman and hardest working player of the month. The top player, rookie, defenseman and hardest working player of the month are chosen by the Attack Coaching Staff and Management. The Attack had one of their best months in franchise history, winning 9 of 12 games and currently sits atop the Midwest division standings.
Molson Canadian Rookie of the Month – The Attack is pleased to announce that rookie forward Jarrod Maidens has been named the Molson Canadian Rookie of the Month. The 4th overall pick in this spring’s priority selection notched 3 goals and 2 assists in the month of October with a +/- rating of +1. Maidens was also named the 2nd star in a 4-2 Attack victory over the Sarnia Sting at the RBC Centre on Tuesday, October 12th.
Molson Canadian Defenseman of the Month – The Attack would like to congratulate overage defenseman Matt Stanisz on being named the club’s Molson Canadian Defenseman of the Month. The overage defenseman has done everything the coaching staff has asked of him and also picked up a goal and 7 assists while leading all Attack defenders with a +8 rating. Stanisz was named the first star of the game on October 12th, picking up his first multi point game of the season.
Molson Canadian Hardest Worker of the Month – Forward Andrew Shaw has been named the Attack’s Molson Canadian Hardest Working Player of the Month for October. The 19 year old forward collected 3 goals to go along with 6 assists and was named the Dickie’s Hardest Working Player of the Game on two occasions. The feisty forward’s play has been a welcome addition to the club.
Molson Canadian Player of the Month – Captain Garrett Wilson has been named the club’s Molson Canadian Player of the Month. The Elmvale, ON. native scored 14 goals in 12 games and added 10 assists with a +15 rating. He was also named the OHL Player of the Week and Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week for the week ending October 24th. The Florida Panthers prospect was also named a star in 6 of the Attack’s 12 games in October.
The Attack is back in action this evening, Wednesday, November 03 when they play host to the Barrie Colts. Game time at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is 7:00pm.
