Midweek Back to Back for the Attack
The Owen Sound Attack are looking to start a new kind of a streak when they host the Barrie Colts on
After back to back wins against the Sudbury Wolves and Peterborough Petes snapped a seven game losing skid, the Attack are hoping to go on a winning run before the Christmas break.
Wednesday night’s 7:00pm puck drop marks Barrie’s first trip to the Bayshore this season, while it is the 3rd matchup between the Attack and Colts overall. Sitting in 3rd in the Eastern Conference, Barrie has bested the Attack in both of the 2015-16 meetings thus far.
The contest also marks the finale of the Attack Hunger food drive. Put on by the Investor’s Group, the Attack Hunger campaign has helped raise over 5000 pounds of food over the past two years, and the Attack are encouraging fans to bring non-perishable food items with them to the game to help make this year’s edition a success as well.
Having taken their last two games by scores of 5-3 and 7-0, Owen Sound appears to have shaken their goal-scoring struggles and now have three players who have surpassed the 20 point plateau on the year. Still leading the way for the Attack is captain Santino Centorame who has 22 points thanks to his 9 goals and 13 assists, while overagers Josh Sterk and Bryson Cianfrone have 22 and 20 points respectively.
Barrie is led into the game by forward Kevin Labanc and his 45 points in 37 games on the year, good for 7th in the Ontario Hockey League scoring race.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Attack will head to Peterborough for a rematch with the Petes on Thursday, Dec. 17.
Owen Sound downed the Petes by a score of 7-0 this past Sunday and will be looking to sweep the season series when the puck drops at 7:05pm at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
The Petes, 4th in the Eastern Conference, are led by overage forward Hunter Garlent and his 36 points in 33 games on the year.
Following the trip to Peterborough, Owen Sound will wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with a Midwest Division battle against the London Knights on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Saturday’s game is a 7:30pm start at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, and is also the Attack’s Toonies And Toys night, which caps off the Owen Sound Fire Department’s toy drive for the 2015 holiday season.
