Last Minute to Win It for Otters
The Owen Sound Attack took to the ice in Erie on Wednesday night looking to end their three game losing streak, but lady luck would once again shine elsewhere.
Cody Ceci and Steven Janes would make their Attack debut, while Artur Gavrus would not make the trip. Jordan Binnington also didn’t make the trip to Erie but is expected to return to the roster in Niagara.
The first period would be a flurry of activity, in particular the last minute. Before the last minute, Connor Brown and Zach Nastasiuk traded goals. For Brown, it was his first of the night. Connor Crisp restored the Otter’s one goal lead at the 5:05 on a wrister that beat Brandon Hope. With just :39 seconds left in the period, Cody Ceci made his mark with a nice end to end rush, dropping the puck to Cameron Brace who buried his 25th of the season.
Just :14 seconds later, Connor Brown would bury his second of the night to give the Otters a 3-2 lead…..but Gemel Smith would draw the Attack even with just three second left to send the game into the second period tied at three.
The Otters would replace goaltender Oscar Dansk with Devin Williams and that move would prove to pay off as the sophomore tender would shut the door on the Attack the rest of the game.
Once again in the last minute, the Attack would go down shorthanded on a delay of game penalty and the Otters would make them pay when Connor Brown buried his third of the game to give the home town team a 4-3 win.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars of the game were:
3) Connor McDavid 2A
2) Devin Williams 24SV
1) Connor Brown 3G
The Attack is back in action on Thursday when they visit the Niagara Ice Dogs.
