Hockey Day in Canada Highlights Attack’s Busy Week
The Bears were perfect last week taking the win in all three games, including a pair against divisional rivals Erie and Guelph. Their reward is a gauntlet week as they prepare for four games in six days, capped off with a three-in-three weekend against London, Peterborough and Ottawa.
The week kicks off for the Attack with a rare Tuesday night home game, as they welcome their Hwy 26 rival Barrie Colts to the Bayshore. Barrie has familiar face back in the lineup, as World Junior Gold Medalist Brandt Clarke was sent back to the Colts by the Los Angeles Kings. In just three games since returning to junior hockey, Clarke has registered six points, and has led to the Colts winning all three games since his return.
A couple days break will see Owen Sound get into the Hockey Day in Canada spirit as the four day event kicks off on Wednesday night. For the Attack, their focus will shift to a Friday night tilt with the rival Knights down in London as the teams will clash for the fifth time this season. London bolstered up at the trade deadline as they add Ryan Winterton and Ryan Humphrey to an offence that has looked more potent as the season has went along. After claiming victory in the first two meetings, the Attack will look to get back in the win column against their Midwest division foes having dropped the last two.
Saturday night is the penultimate night for Owen Sound, as the Hockey Day festivities come to a close, with the final action being a pre-game puck drop just before the Attack clash with the Peterborough Petes. It was just over two weeks ago that the teams faced off against one another down in Peterborough, a game which saw Owen Sound control a large percentage of the play, but ultimately it was a strong Petes team that took the win. On Saturday night the Attack will see an even strong Petes team on the ice, as World Junior Gold Medalist Brennan Othmann returns to the lineup, and the trade deadline addition of another Gold Medalist in Owen Beck makes Peterborough an even deeper team and a great measuring stick for the Attack. Please note that this game’s puck drop time is set for 6:45pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm.
The week wraps up with another Sunday matinee affair against the Ottawa 67’s, though this time the Attack will have the Bayshore crowd behind them. It was a tough game the last time the teams met, as Ottawa showed Owen Sound why they were the top team in the league, coming at the Bears in wave after wave of offence. Having an idea of their opponent now, the Attack will look to give the 67’s a taste of their own medicine, as the Bears have begun rolling on offence scoring five or more times in the each of the last three games.
Ticket for all home games are becoming limited, but can be purchased at the MacVicor and McComb Sutton Realty Attack Box Office by calling 519-371-7452 or going online at tickets.attackhockey.com.
NOTE: Due to Hockey Day in Canada festivities going on at the Bayshore throughout the day Saturday January 21st, parking for the Attack game may become limited fast. We encourage fans who are coming to the game to seek other ways of transportation to the Bayshore. For those who have reserve parking, that will be handled as regular with a full day monitoring of the situation.
