Catenacci Scores Late in 2-1 Win
Kitchener was the opponent on Friday night as the Attack travelled to The Aud to take on the Rangers. The Attack were coming off a 4-1 win on Wednesday against the Barrie Colts and were only two points ahead of the Rangers for second in the MidWest heading into Friday night’s contest.
Jordan Binnington got the nod between the pipes for the Attack while Joel Vienneau started in place of the injured John Gibson. Cameron Brace made his return to the lineup after serving a two game suspension while Steven Janes returned to the lineup after sitting out with an upper body injury.
The game would be back and forth, but Kitchener would jump out to a 1-0 lead when Tobias Rieder put home his 17th of the season on a screened Jordan Binnington.
1-0 would be the way the second period would start, but the Attack would respond with a strong effort and eventually pull even when Cameron Brace jumped on a pass and made some nifty moved to beat Vienneau and tie the game at one.
It would be an eventful third period as the Attack would take two straight penalties, but the penalty killers would do their job and Jordan Binnington would stand tall to keep the game tied at one. The Attack would fail on their first powerplay attempt, but with just over two minutes left, Frank Corrado was whistled for cross checking and the Attack would make no mistake as Milne fed the puck to Nastasiuk, who fed it to Catenacci who hammered it past Vienneau for a 2-1 lead.
Binnington and his teammates would do the rest as they preserved the 2-1 lead, gaining their first win of the season in Kitchener.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars were:
3) Jordan Binnington 36SV
2) Tobias Rieder 1G
1) Daniel Catenacci GWG
