Bears look to bounce back
The Owen Sound Attack will look to rebound from Wednesday night’s loss to Barrie when they kick off a pair of weekend games with a visit to the Kitchener Rangers on Friday, Mar. 11.
Owen Sound, now 30-23-7-3 on the year, will head into Kitchener looking to take down the 40-15-5-2 Rangers for the 2nd time in as many head to head games.
The Attack won a thrilling 4-2 decision the last time the teams met back on Feb. 17, giving Owen Sound six out of a possible 12 points in the season series with the Rangers.
Kitchener, who appears cemented in 4th place in the Western Conference, is also coming off of a big loss in their last outing, an 8-2 drubbing by the London Knights.
In six head to head match ups between Owen Sound and Kitchener on the year, four Attack players have registered five points led by Captain Santino Centorame and Petrus Palmu who each have three goals and two assists. Overagers Josh Sterk and Bryson Cianfrone also have five points each for the Attack in the tilts with their division rival.
Ryan MacInnis leads the way for the Rangers in the season series, having registered four goals and five assists for nine points, one ahead of sophomore forward Adam Mascherin’s four goals and four assists.
Friday night’s game is slated to begin at 7:30pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and can be watched live on Rogers Local 53 or listened to on Kia of Owen Sound Terry’s Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS.
The Attack will then return home for a matchup with the Windsor Spitfires at the Bayshore on Saturday night, also a 7:30pm puck drop.
Windsor is currently entrenched in a fierce battle with the Sarnia Sting for first place in the West Division and the 2nd overall seed in the Western Conference.
The Spits and Sting, who are at 80 and 81 points respectively, will tangle on Thursday night before the Attack host Windsor on Saturday.
Owen Sound leads the season series against the Spitfires, having won two of the three games played thus far. Despite the general success head to head, the Attack were on the losing side of the last meeting, a 5-0 victory for Windsor on Jan. 7.
Tickets for Saturday night’s game are limited to standing room only and can be purchased at the DJ’s Furniture Attack Box Office. Fans are also reminded that Saturday’s game will be their last chance to bid on a Caframo Attack Warmup Jersey, with the silent auction taking place in the South Concourse of the Bayshore. The auction, which began on Wednesday night, will re-open at 6:30pm on Saturday and run until the beginning of the 3rd period.
All proceeds raised through the Caframo Attack Warmup Jersey auction will be donated to the Owen Sound Cardiac Rehabilitation Program through the Heart Beats and Hockey Sticks campaign.
