Bears Down Petes
The gaining three of four points on the road last weekend, the Attack would continue their extended road trip by travelling to Peterborough on Thursday night.
A quick start on the road has been something that has plagued the Attack for a good chunk of their road games, however; they would get on the board early on Thursday when Kurtis Gabriel put the puck past goaltender Andrew D’Agostini.
Leading 1-0 heading into the second period, the Attack would storm out of the gate in the second period. Thomas Schemitsch would make it 2-0 with his 3rd of the season and Gemel Smith would snipe his 17th of the season shortly after, chasing D’Agostini from the cage.
Despite being up 3-0, the Petes still had their fair share of chances, but Brandon Hope stood tall making several big saves.
Gemel Smith would extend the Attack’s lead to 4-0 when he showed his hands at the side of the net by knocking a rebound out of mid air.
Smith would pick up right where he left off to begin the third period when he buried his 3rd of the game and 19th of the season to put the Attack up 5-0. Daniel Milne would make it 6-0 when he ripped the puck past the blocker of Giugovaz.
Clarke added one late to break Brandon Hope’s shutout bid, but the veteran netminder was very stellar making 30 saves.
Kurtis Gabriel would have the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick. Unofficially, his 2nd Gordie Howe Hat Trick of the season.
The Three Stars were:
3) Holden Cook 3A
2) Kurtis Gabriel 1G,1A, 1 fight
1) Gemel Smith 3G
The Attack is back on the road Friday when they travel to Kitchener. All of the action can be seen live on Kia Owen Sound/Terry’s Trailer Service Bear Radio with Fred Wallace.
