Attack to Fight Back Against Cancer
The Owen Sound Attack Hockey Club and players have joined forces with the Canadian Cancer Society to FIGHT BACK AGAINST CANCER, the events are being held on March 5, at the Harry Lumley Community Centre.
The events will include the Attack Players shaving their heads to raise funds for pediatric cancer as a Kick off to Cops for Cancer, the signature event for the Bluewater Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Attack players have decided to help with the fundraising by receiving pledges during game nights as well as online with all funds raised will be designated to pediatric cancer. To sponsor the team go to www.copsforcancer.ca or stop by the Attack box office to make your donation. All donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt for the 2011 tax year.
“The guys are already growing their hair out for this popular event, they just want to give back and with the proceeds going to children’s cancer research it was the perfect opportunity,” says Brent Fisher, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Attack. “We just hope we can pack the event with people from all over Grey and Bruce, it will be an awesome day.” The shave off starts at noon, so don’t miss out. During the evening the Attack hosts The Peterborough Petes for a 7:30 p.m. start time with the Chuck A Puck contest being held during the 2nd intermission.
“It’s easy, it’s fun and everyone can play,” says Jen Wright, Fundraising Coordinator with the Canadian Cancer Society. There will be 1000 pucks available for purchase and they will sell for $5 each or 3 pucks for $12. During the 2nd intermission of the game puck purchasers will be asked to toss their pucks into centre ice, towards the buckets. Each bucket will contain one prize. In order to win the puck must land either in the bucket or be closest to the bucket. All pucks will be numbered and recorded with the purchaser’s name. All the money raised from the “Chuck a Puck” will be designated to colorectal cancer. Southwest Regional Cancer Program will also be on hand during the game to offer information about colorectal cancer.

1st place receives a pizza for a year donation by Boston Pizza.
2nd place receives an autographed Attack Jersey donated by the Owen Sound Attack.
3rd place receives a spring racing jacket donated by Peninsula Ford.
4th Place receives a 6 month fitness membership donated by The Days Inn and Conference Centre.
5th place receives a $200 gift certificate from The Personal Enhancement Centre.
6th place receives a “his and hers” wash and vacuum donated by Baywest Toyota.
