Attack Sweep Weekend Set with Otters
The Owen Sound Attack hosted the Erie Otters for the 2nd game of a two game home stand on Saturday night, coming off a 9-1 win on Friday.
It would be a tale of two teams on Saturday night as the Attack looked for their 8th point in five games at home.
The 1st period was textbook Attack hockey as they laid the body and took the puck to the net. Zach Nastasiuk would open the scoring for the Attack when his 19th of the season found the back of the net. The Attack would go on to score three more goals in the first period on singles by Dan Catenacci, Kyle Hope and Cameron Brace. Hope’s goal was originally given to Holden Cook, however; video replay deemed that the puck clipped an outstretched stick of Kyle Hope.
The second period opened with a 4-0 lead for the Attack and Gemel Smith would make it 5-0 on his 22nd of the season. From there, the Attack would let up and allow the Otters to crawl back into the game. JP Labardo scored to make it 5-1, but Cameron Brace would extend the lead to five once again on a one timer past Oscar Dansk.
Erie then responded with three straight goals to cut the deficit to two, but that would be it as the Attack skated off with the 6-4 victory.
Dane Fox would account for two of the Otters remaining goals. Brandon Hope collected his 11th win of the season in his first start since February 18th.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Zach Natasiuk 1G
2) Dane Fox 2G
1) Cameron Brace 2G,2A
The Attack is back in action at home on March 16th when they host the Sarnia Sting. Fans are reminded about the St. Patrick’s Day Bash with Geoff Stevens immediately following the game in the Shore Rome.
Tickets for both the game and the dance are available at the Attack Box Office.
