Attack Skate Away with 4-1 Win
The Owen Sound Attack were at home for a rare Friday night game and were in search of their 5th straight victory as the Ottawa 67’s visited.
Friday was Special Olympics night with the Attack. Each Attack player donned red laces in support of Special Olympics, while several Special Olympians were on hand to drop the puck for the evening’s ceremonial faceoff.
Both Jake Dotchin and Gemel Smith left last Saturday’s game early with injuries, but due to the lengthy amount of time between games, both were healed and ready to go for Friday.
It didn’t take long for the Attack to open the scoring and who better than Cameron Brace, with his 10th goal in the Attack’s 10th game of the season, from Daniel Catenacci and Nathan Chiarlitti.
Ottawa would go to the powerplay just a few minutes later and after a turnover on a short handed rush, Tyler Graovac would hammer a one timer past Jordan Binnington to knot the game at one.
The pace of the game would be back and forth with both teams trading chances back and forth. Noticeably absent from the 1st period was Gemel Smith, but he sure made his presence felt in the second period when he fired the puck past Keegan Wilson to give the Attack a 2-1 lead.
That would be the score heading into the 3rd period.
Once again, the back and forth action provided both teams several chances to add to their goal total, but stellar goaltending at both ends kept the game within one. The Attack would finally put one past Wilson when Chris Bigras netted his first of the season with Nathan Chiarlitti picking up the assist.
The Attack would add an empty net goal off the stick of Jake Dotchin to skate away with their 5th consecutive win. Shots on goal were 35-23 in favour of Owen Sound.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars were:
3) Keegan Wilson 32 Saves
2) Nathan Chiarlitti 2A, +4
1) Daniel Catenacci 2A, +2
The Attack is back on home ice tomorrow night when they host Matt Petgrave, Geoffrey Schemitsch and the Oshawa Generals.
