Attack to Face Rangers in Round 1
The Owen Sound Attack will meet the Kitchener Rangers in Round One of the 2012 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs. The Rangers finished 3rd in the Western Conference with 86 points while the Attack finished 6th place with 71 points. Although these two rivals are no strangers to each other, it has been six long years since the two clubs met in the OHL Playoffs, ironically, sitting in the exact same positions they are now. The Attack entered the 2006 playoffs in 6th spot, finishing the season with 71 points and the Rangers finishing 3rd in the conference with 96 points, behind division leaders London and Plymouth.
The Attack were the heavy underdogs, but managed to defeat the mighty Rangers in a thrilling 5 game series, winning game 5 in Kitchener. The Attack and Rangers have not met in the Playoffs since, however; both teams have won an OHL Championship since their last post season meeting, Kithcner in 2008 and Owen Sound in 2011.
The first round schedule is listed below and tickets for all Attack home games are available at the Attack Box Office in the Main Lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, online at www.attackhockey.com or by calling (519) 371-7452. A reminder to Season Ticket Holders that they have until 1:00pm the day before the game to claim their tickets!
