Attack lose in Lindo’s return
Jaden Lindo’s return to the Owen Sound Attack lineup was not enough to lift the squad over the Windsor Sptifries, as the Attack fell 4-2 on Thursday night.
Lindo was appearing in his 1st game for the Attack since tearing his ACL in a game against the Belleville Bulls on Feb. 15, 2014.
The Windsor Spitfires exploded for three goals in just over a minute in the 2nd period to open the scoring after the teams battled to a scoreless draw in the opening frame.
Aaron Luchuk got Windsor’s 1st goal when he scored on a shorthanded breakaway at the 9:26 mark of the frame before Trevor Murphy found the back of the net with a snapshot just 43 seconds later to put theSpitfires up 2-0. Christian DiGiacinto rounded out Windsor’s scoring in the frame when he banked home a shot off of Attack netminder Jack Flinn with 10:33 gone in the period.
Looking for some momentum, Justin Brack and Jaden Lindo both found combatants and engaged in some fisticuffs shortly after Windsor’s 3rd goal. Their efforts seemed to work, as the Attack would strike next.
With just under 6:00 left in the 2nd period, Zach Nastasiuk got his stick on a Chris Bigras point shot, and redirected home his 8th goal of the year. Santino Centorame picked up the secondary assist on the goal that cut Windsor’s lead to 3-1, and send the Attack into the locker room down by two.
Owen Sound was able to draw within one at the 10:15 mark of the final frame when Nastasiuk scored his 2nd of the game. While being hauled down, the captain was able to receive a pass from Kyle Platzer and rifle the puck into the top half of the net overtop of Spitfires goalie Alex Fotinos.
Nastasiuk’s goal made the game 3-2 but Jamie Lewis would score for the Spitfires on a power play shortly after that to complete the scoring.
Attack netminder jack Flinn made 23 stops on 27 shots on the night, while Owen Sound outshot the Spitfires 30-27 on the Mark McDade Remax Shots on Goal counter.
Owen Sound returns to action on Friday night when they travel to Plymouth to take on the Whalers at 7:30pm. The Attack return home on Saturday, Nov. 8 to host the Windsor spitfires.

KEYS TO VICTORY
Attack head coach Greg Ireland knows that no matter who the team is playing, Owen Sound will be successful if they stick to their game. With the Windsor Spitfires boasting a star in Josh Ho-Sang, and the Plymouth Whalers having the services of Sonny Milano, the Attack will need to be more focused than ever on executing those game plans. While they will certainly look to shut down the high powered forwards for both teams, the Attack will be especially wary of staying disciplined in doing so, while also winning battles along the boards and executing a heavy and fast forecheck.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Sonny Milano, LW, Plymouth Whalers
1 G, 6 A, 5 GP
The 1st round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Milano wasn’t a guarantee to suit up for the Whalers. A fractured jaw delayed his OHL debut, but since he has slotted into the lineup he has produced heavily. A dynamic skater, the Attack will look to shut down his passing ability. Milano was held off the scoresheet for in Plymouth’s Wednesday night match up against the Soo Greyhounds, and found himself -3 on the night in a 3-2 loss.
