Attack Host Whalers Saturday
Home Depot will be the game sponsor on Saturday night as Plymouth travels to Owen Sound for the second meeting in less than a week between the two clubs. Owen Sound won the last game, scoring two early goals in a 3-1 decision. This last win gives the Attack a 2-0 record against the Whalers this season. They will hope to continue this trend, as another win on Saturday could see the Attack move to 6th place in the west, matching the Spitfires in the standings.
Jaden Lindo has been a strong force for the Attack of late, scoring 5 points (3G, 2A) in his last 3 appearances. One of his goals was in the Attack’s last game against Plymouth, where the second year winger netted a goal within the first fifteen seconds of the game. Nastasiuk also had a strong game for the Attack last time they played Plymouth. The captain tallied the last goal for the Attack in the game, while also adding an assist on Lindo’s early marker.
Fans are encouraged to bring both monetary and food donations to the game on Saturday, where the Junior Attack Minor Bantams will be collecting contributions for the Plan to Attack Hunger. Last season the Minor Attack players raised an outstanding 735lbs of food and $976.00 in cash donations for the Salvation Army. If you can’t bring your donations to this game, there will be groups set up at following Attack home games as well. The Attack play 6 of their 8 games before the holiday break at home, and there will be groups at each of these home games to collect donations.
Saturday, November 30-13: Plymouth @ Owen Sound
One thing that has shined for Plymouth all season has been their penalty kill. They currently sit with the 3rd best proficiency in all of the OHL, only trailing both conference leaders: Erie and Oshawa. The Whalers PK has been ever better on the road, ranking 2nd in the league while only allowing 11 power play goals against.
This high ranking penalty kill has been a large factor for Plymouth this season, along with their efficiency in the extra frame. The Whalers are no strangers to close games, playing in 7 overtime contests already this season. The team has won all but one of these games, going perfect in the overtime period, and 3-1 in the shootout.
Similar to the Attack, the Whalers will play on Friday night before travelling to Owen Sound for Saturday’s game. Plymouth will host the Oshawa Generals, who currently lead the eastern conference of the OHL.
Look Out For: Carter Sandlak already has 15 goals this season for the Whalers, passing his previous best of 9. The veteran winger had the only goal for Plymouth in their loss to Owen Sound earlier this week, earning himself the second star of the game.
