Attack Host Colts Tonight
The Owen Sound Attack will host Barrie tonight for the first time this season as the Colts make their way to the Bayshore. The Colts won the only previous meeting between the two clubs earlier this season in Barrie.
Newly acquired Brett Hargrave will be in the lineup tonight and will wear number 39 for the home team Attack while Brayden Rose will sit out his 7th game of his 10 game suspension.
Gemel Smith continues to rip it up as he is averaging a goal per game in fifteen contests. Holden Cook has also found his scoring touch and sits 3rd on the team with 14 points in 15 games and leads the team with a +10 rating.
The Attack currently sit 6th in the Western Conference, however; a win tonight would leap frog them into a 4th place spot.
It’s way back Wednesday at the Bayshore as the Attack will be wearing their Plater throwbacks. Former Owen Sound Plater goaltender Mike Parson will be on hand to drop the puck for our ceremonial faceoff tonight. Mike played three seasons in a Plater uniform and was on the first Plater team in Owen Sound in 1989/1990. Mike went on to play professionally in the AHL and ECHL until his retirement in 1996. From there he served as a member of the Guelph Storm coaching staff from 1997-2001 and from 2006-2012.
Wednesday, October-30-13: Colts @ Attack
The Colts currently sit 7th in the Eastern Conference with 13 points in 14 games. Picked as a favorite in the East by many, the Colts are 4-4-0-2 in their past 10 games. Forward Attack players Jake Dotchin and Devon Rymarchuk are on the Barrie Roster, however; Rymarchuk has yet to suit up due to injury. The Colts are lead by 17 year old defenseman and top NHL Draft Prospect, Aaron Ekblad on the back end. Given exceptional status in 2011, the Colts rearguard is putting up impressive numbers with 6 goals and 7 assists in 13 games.
Look Out For: Ekblad. The 6’4, 217lb defender logs A LOT of minutes for the Colts and plays in all situations. He large frame can be imposing if he uses it and he has a cannon from the point.
