Attack Home to Rangers
The Attack will play their second consecutive home game on Wednesday when the Rangers visit the Bayshore. This will be the teams’ third meeting of the year, with Kitchener currently holding the edge in the season series with 2 wins. Despite this, the Attack still have gained a crucial 4 out of 6 possible points through their win and two overtime losses. So far, the home team has come away with the victory between these two clubs.
Home victories have been a large part of the Attack’s success so far, with the team registering a 7-2-1-1 record at the Bayshore.
Owen Sound will come into this contest on a hot streak, going 3-0-1 in their last four games. They will have to continue their strong play if they hope to catch Saginaw or Windsor in the standings, who currently sit ahead of them tied at 34 points. With a win on Wednesday, Owen Sound could put themselves only 1 point behind their conference rivals.
Both goaltenders have been good for Owen Sound against Kitchener this year. Brandon Hope made 33 saves on his way to a victory at home in the teams’ first meeting. Hope has recently been on a hot streak, being named the Attacker of the Week for the third time this season. He compiled a 1.44 GAA and .962 save percentage on his way to a 2-0 record this past week. Jack Flinn has made the other two starts for the Attack and battled through to overtime in both appearances, gaining a crucial two points for the team.
Also playing well for the Attack is forward Daniel Milne. In his last 2 games, Milne has recorded 4 points, including the game tying goal in the teams’ last shootout victory against the Plymouth Whalers. The second year forward has now tallied 18 points this season; only one point shy of his total from last year.
Don’t forget to bring your charitable donations on Wednesday night, as the Plan to Attack Hunger will once again be collecting donations at the game. Fans are encouraged to bring either food or monetary donations to the arena, where the contributions will be collected and given directly to the Salvation Army for people in need within the community. Last Saturday, the Minor Bantams raised over $1300.00 in the hour prior to the game!
Wednesday 04-13: Kitchener @ Owen Sound
Kitchener currently sits last in the division and 9th in the conference with 21 points. They are 3-9-0-1 on the season away from home coming into the Bayshore on Wednesday. Despite their record so far, the Rangers are still a dangerous team. In each of the teams’ three meetings, Kitchener has played very well, garnering 4 points from 2 overtime wins at home. They are led by a talented group of forwards that include NHL draft picks Radek Faksa and Justin Bailey. Faksa alone has been a thorn in the side of Owen Sound in the previous meetings, netting 3 goals. The Rangers will be coming into the Bayshore with a 6-4 record in their past 10 games. The team is especially good at keeping out of trouble. At this point in the season, they currently sit 5th in the league for least penalty minutes accrued.
Look Out For: Darby Llewellyn has been good against Owen Sound this season, potting two goals in the teams’ last meeting. He scored in regulation, as well as put in the overtime winner against the Attack. With those two goals, and a hat-trick against Barrie, the second year winger currently has 5 goals in his last 3 games.
