Attack Hit the Road….Again
The Attack will look to build off of a three point weekend on Thursday night as they face the Petes in Peterborough. The team will then travel to Kitchener to play against the divisional rival Rangers on Friday night before returning home for a game on Saturday. These two games will mark the end of a seven road game streak for the Attack.
To continue their success, the Attack will have to rely on the steady goaltending of Brandon Hope and Jack Flinn. Hope, who recently was named the Attacker of the Week, impressed with two strong showings over the weekend, recording one win, along with a save percentage of .955. Jack Flinn also played well the team’s loss against North Bay, registering 35 saves on 36 shots against.
Gemel Smith continues to produce for the Attack up front, registering a goal and an assist over the weekend in the team’s win against Sudbury. The goal, which opened the scoring on Saturday night, was Smith’s 16th of the season. He currently leads the team in the scoring category, and will be a large factor for the Attack as they end their string of road games.
The Attack will be going vintage on the road Thursday and Friday as they will be wearing their Plater throwbacks in Peterborough and Kitchener. Peterborough and Kitchener are two of the longest serving teams in the OHL as the Petes have been in existence since 1956 while the Rangers began operations in 1963. Ironically, it was the Kitchener Canucks that relocated to Peterborough in 1956 to become the Petes.
Thursday, November 14-13: Owen Sound vs. Peterborough
This will be the second and final time the teams play each other this season, with the Petes edging the Attack in the teams’ previous meeting. The game was close, with the Petes winning in a shootout at the Bayshore. Peterborough has the league’s highest goals against average at 4.85/game, while the Attack are the leagues most penalized with 455 sin bin minutes.
Look Out For: Nick Ritchie has continued to score at more than a point per game pace this season, registering 18 point in only 16 games. He will look to continue this streak throughout the season, as he is considered a top prospect for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Friday, November 15-13: Owen Sound vs. Kitchener
Owen Sound will try to continue their winning ways against Kitchener this season on Friday night, as the Attack bested the Rangers by a score of 4-2 in Kitchener’s last visit to the Bayshore in early October. The Attack will have to shut down Kitchener Star, and NHL first round pick, Radek Faksa if they hope to win again against the Rangers. Faksa had two goals in the last meeting between the two teams. Troy Smith is the new bench boss on Rangerland as the long time Assistant Coach took over for Steve Spott this past off season.
Look Our For: Radek Faksa will look to continue his strong showing so far this season, registering 12 points so far. The big centre is looking to build on last season’s success, totalling 31 point in only 39 games played.
